ForwardTraining in CF-CBT: A Cognitive-Behavioral Skills-Based Program to Promote Emotional Well-Being for Adults with Cystic Fibrosis (February 7, 2024)

This course is designed to introduce and practice CBT coping skills for stress management, anxiety and depression applied specifically to address the challenges that people with CF face due to their medical condition. This course will identify:
- Information related to depression and anxiety in people with CF, including prevalence rates and morbidity, such as negative health consequences
- Review of international guidelines for identifying and addressing depression and anxiety in CF
- Information about the basics of CBT including conceptual framework, structure of sessions and evidence-base
- Information about the development and evidence-base for the CF-CBT program
You must register at mghcme.org in order to obtain your CE for attending either version of this course.
Target Audience
This program is intended for: CF care team members including social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, pulmonologists, nurses
Learning Objectives
By the end of this program, participants will learn the techniques used in CBT such as:
- Relaxation skills
- Cognitive restructuring/adaptive thinking
- Delivering behavioral techniques such as behavioral activation, problem-solving, and developing an initial exposure-based exercise for anxiety
